The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor is easily accessible by train, bus, air and car. The primary means of travel to Ann Arbor will be via the Detroit Metro International Airport (DTW). DTW manages over 33 million passengers a year and around 600 flights a day. A major airport for the upper Midwest, it is easily accessible and located about 25 miles from downtown Ann Arbor. DTW is a hub for Delta Airlines, and services other major US-based (Alaska, American, Frontier, jetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, United) and International (Air Canada, AirFrance, Lufthansa, Royal Jordanian, Virgin Atlantic) airlines.
Multiple options exist for ground transportation from DTW to Ann Arbor, including rental cars, taxis, Uber, and Ann Arbor AirRide (bus service at <$15 per ride). In addition to air travel, Ann Arbor is home to both Amtrak and Greyhound stations. Amtrak travels at least twice daily to Ann Arbor via the Wolverine Line that travels between Chicago (major hub for Amtrak) and Pontiac, Michigan. The Greyhound station provides access to multiple locations across the US. Ann Arbor is located at the intersection of interstate 94 (I-94) and US 23 in Southeastern Michigan.
The University of Michigan Work-Life Resources Center provides resources and contacts to assist with helping conference participants find child care options while in Ann Arbor. In addition, there are national child care matching services that participants can arrange with ahead of time, such as through care.com or sittercity.com. Registrants who are members of the YMCA can use our local YMCA child care services.
